Mr. Ahlgren has more than 36 years of experience representing clients with business and commercial transactions, including providing sound and knowledgeable counsel. Using his extensive experience in the business law field, he provides personalized solutions for each client’s unique case. Among his relevant experience:
- Board Counsel to the Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative, providing advice to a large sugar beet cooperative in a variety of areas;
- Was president of ShoreMaster, Inc. for 12 years, during which time he oversaw the entire business operation including the sale of the company to Otter Tail Corporation in May 2002 and the acquisition of four add-on companies over the next five years;
- Representation of an investment company providing financing to persons and businesses in need of investment capital.
Mr. Ahlgren also has extensive experience representing financially distressed businesses and individuals and works collaboratively with attorneys across other disciplines and with other firms to represent clients effectively. Mr. Ahlgren is licensed to practice law in both North Dakota and Minnesota with an emphasis on acting as a receiver or assignee in an assignment for the benefit of creditors.

As part of his practice, Erik A. Ahlgren, was appointed by the United States Department of Justice as a Trustee for Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings in Minnesota. His legal experience, professionalism and trust has allowed him to be appointed in this key role in the Bankruptcy Process.
As a Trustee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Mr. Ahlgren is obligated to review a Debtor’s bankruptcy petition and examine a Debtor under oath to insure that all of the assets and debts of the individual or corporation are provided. By examining the assets, Mr. Ahlgren acts to maintain the highest value for non-exempt property of the estate.
